Robson Green has spent the past few months on the set of Grantchester, where he's been filming season nine with newcomer Rishi Nair. Taking fans behind the scenes on Tuesday, the actor – who portrays DI Geordie Keating – shared a new snap from production, and it was accompanied by the sweetest caption.
"In the darkest mysteries, a good detective illuminates truth's path with unwavering resolve and keen insight," Robson began. "Mind you it does help to have an inquisitive member of the clergy by his side. Blessed to be part of this extraordinary team. @itv @masterpiecepbs @pbs."
Shortly after posting, Robson was inundated with messages from fans, with the majority asking the same question. "When is it on please?" wrote one. "Any news on when we are going to see it in England?" added another. Meanwhile, a third penned: "When do we see the latest series in the UK?"
While viewers in the US have already tuned into the eighth season of Grantchester via PBS, fans in the UK are still waiting on the episodes, which are typically released on ITV1 and ITVX. Currently, the broadcaster has remained tight-lipped about a premiere date, but hopefully, fans won't have to wait too much longer.
As for season nine, the latest instalment is slated for a 2024 release. A poignant chapter in the world of Grantchester, it will also mark Tom Brittney's final series.

"I've had the most incredible time playing Will Davenport for the last five years," Tom said in a statement. "I got to solve crimes with my best friend, and work with the best cast and crew I could ever ask for. I'll miss it more than anything. But it's time for the baton to be passed, as it once was to me, and I'm so excited for Rishi to join the Grantchester family."
© David M. BenettThe actor will be replaced by Hollyoaks star Rishi Nair, who is set to play new vicar Alphy Kotteram. According to the PBS synopsis, the character will have an "instinctive distrust for authority and absolutely no desire to get involved in murder investigations."
The synopsis continues: "From deadly circuses, abandoned babies, and hostile historians to vanishing valets and murderous satirists, Geordie and Alphy witness first-hand how religion can be corrupted, but also how faith, love and friendship can offer hope – and renewal."

While fans will be sad to say goodbye to Tom, for the time being, Robson isn't going anywhere. Back in August, the actor took part in a new interview with PBS, where he raved about the "wonderful working environment" on set.
"If I ever leave Grantchester, I know I would miss it every hour of every day," explained Robson, which makes us think that DI Geordie Keating has a lot of episodes left in him.
"There's been many jobs during my career where I've just clock-watched, I've calendar-watched but not with Grantchester," he continued. "It's such a wonderful working environment and there is not one negative energy on set."
Robson did admit that there have been times when he's questioned how long he should stay on Grantchester, but ultimately, he's "reminded how wonderful this is. If I ever have bad days, they're immediately quashed by how lovely it is to be on the set."
