David Duchovny turns 66 on August 7, 2026, and is dad to two children whom he welcomed with his actress ex-wife Tea Leoni. The pair welcomed daughter Madelaine West, known as West, born in April 1999, and three years later, son Kyd, born in June 2002, joined the family.
David's career began in 1993 when he joined Gillian Anderson in The X Files, as FBI Special Agent Fox Mulder, a conspiracy theorist who believed his sister had been abducted by aliens. It was during these early years that he met Tea, 60, who starred in television sitcoms Flying Blind and The Naked Truth.

They married in 1997 but in 2008 the couple separated, and that same year David received treatment for sex addiction. The couple reunited but split again in 2011 and finalized their divorce in 2014.

At the age of 10, West moved with her mom and brother Kyd from Los Angeles to New York City. Living in the city led to the teenager looking to study pre-medicine in college before she took part in a staging of Slut: The Play to help a friend during high school, and fell in love with acting.
She made her TV debut in 2018 alongside her dad in an episode of The X Files, but attended Brown University and graduated with a degree in English around 2023 after taking reduced course loads while also working on shows such as The Librarians, Saint X, and Painkiller.

"I was taking reduced course loads, which is why it took me so long [to graduate], but I would go back to my trailer and do some work on my essay and then go to work. It was stressful, but I think it makes it more fulfilling to be like, 'Oh, I did that.'"

Now 27, West is continuing her journey into acting and has been cast in the AMC series Thunder Road about Nascar.
She has also worked with her dad again, most recently on the independent film Soapbox, which David also co-wrote the movie.

Born in June 2002, he graduated high school in 2019, and attended Pitzer College, a liberal arts college in Claremont, outside of Los Angeles, graduating in 2025.
In 2022, David revealed that Kyd had shown no interest in acting, sharing: "My son is a naturally gifted, funny guy. He's a storyteller in that way, but has shown no interest in acting."
