To many, French actress Eva Green will always be remembered for her portrayal of Bond Girl Vesper Lynd in 2006's Casino Royale. 

The 46-year-old starred opposite Daniel Craig, who debuted as the beloved spy in the film, which grossed 606 million dollars worldwide.

While the film catapulted Eva to international fame, she initially turned down the role. "I was probably a bit stupid or naive. I said, 'Ugh, a Bond girl? What kind of prissy girl is that?' They also kept the script secret," she told The Hollywood Reporter in 2019. "So it wasn't until they gave me the script [nine months later] that I realized it was a meaty role. I didn't see her as a Bond girl. She's a strong character; she's got cracks."

What is Eva Green up to now? 

For her acclaimed turn as Vesper Lynd in Casino Royale, Eva won the 2007 BAFTA Rising Star Award, beating the likes of Cillian Murphy and Emily Blunt.

The same year, she reunited with Daniel Craig in the 2007 fantasy film, The Golden Compass, in which Nicole Kidman also starred. 

Since then, Eva has been a regular fixture on the big screen. Boasting a diverse range of film credits, she has starred in the 2011 sci-fi romance Perfect Sense, alongside Ewan McGregor, the 2012 gothic horror Dark Shadows, with Johnny Depp, and the 2024 action thriller Dirty Angels. 

She also played Vanessa Ives in the horror drama series, Penny Dreadful.

The actress has worked with filmmaker Tim Burton on numerous occasions. Alongside Dark Shadows, Eva starred in his 2016 fantasy film, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, the 2019 live-action remake of Dumbo, and is set to play Ophelia Frump in the upcoming third season of Netflix's , which Tim executive produces and directs. 

Eva is booked and busy. The actress has fronted two films this year: the crime thriller Just Play Dead, alongside Samuel L. Jackson, and the psychological horror film, Trees Are Watching, co-produced by Martin Scorsese.

Alongside , she's set to star alongside Benedict Cumberbatch and Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the upcoming crime thriller, Blood on Snow.

Eva Green's life off-screen

Eva, born in Paris, France, is the daughter of French author and actress Marlene Jobert and dental surgeon Walter Green. Her father is Swedish while her mother was born in Algeria. 

"I was born and raised in France, but I have Algerian, Turkish, Swedish, Spanish blood: I feel like a citizen of the world," she previously said.

As for her love life, Eva is not married. She previously dated her Kingdom of Heaven co-star Marton Csokas between 2005 and 2009. 

The actress keeps her romances out of the spotlight, so her current relationship status is unknown. 

When asked about her interests outside of acting during a 2016 interview with Stylist, she shared: "I love short cinema, black and white photography and Pinterest. Every day, and this is very geeky, I take quotes, poems and old pictures and try to make up a story. I love doing that in the evenings. I bombard my friends with them. I love travelling and walking in the mountains – though I am scared of heights!"
