Daniel Craig looks worlds away from 007 in newly released images of Greta Gerwig's upcoming adaptation of C. S. Lewis' beloved 1955 novel, The Magician's Nephew.
The upcoming film, which arrives in cinemas on 12 February before landing on Netflix on 2 April, tells Narnia's origin story, leading to the events of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
In first-look photos, Daniel looks almost unrecognisable as magician Andrew, pictured standing in a workshop, donning wild grey curls and a long work apron.
The 58-year-old actor plays the uncle of young Digory (David McKenna) and neighbour Polly (Beatrice Campbell), the two heroes at the heart of the story.
"I'd like to say that his intentions are good, but I'm not sure that they are," Daniel told Empire. "It's not to say that he's cruel and mean and awful. He gets overexcited about what could be, and therefore overlooks the people around him and the consequences of what he's doing," continued the Knives Out star, whose actions have consequences for Digory and Polly.

While specific plot details have been kept under wraps so far, we do know that the film follows children Digory and Polly, who are sent on an epic adventure by Digory's uncle Andrew, an amateur magician who believes he's discovered the key to moving between worlds.
The official logline reads: "Academy Award–nominated filmmaker Greta Gerwig brings C. S. Lewis's beloved story The Magician's Nephew to the screen for the first time in a sweeping adventure that invites dreamers of all ages to experience the creation of Narnia."
