The Queen and Prince Philip have been using Windsor Castle as their main base since the pandemic began in 2020, but they also own Balmoral Castle in Scotland. The pair have been unable to return since a short holiday during the summer, but a new photo shared on the official Balmoral Castle Twitter page gave fans a look at the magical property during winter.

Balmoral Castle is located in Royal Deeside, Aberdeenshire, and is set amid mountains, lochs and glens.

Her Majesty usually spends a summer break in the seven-bedroom Craigowan Lodge property on the estate while the castle is still open to the public, before she moves into the main house in August.

She has previously billed it one of her favourite places in the world and famously called it "paradise in the Highlands".

Various other members of the royal family have been lucky enough to visit, including Prince Charles and Camilla and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge who have enjoyed summer holidays at the castle alongside the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh in the past.
