Hilary Swank, 52, is expecting her third child in December, but amid her wonderful pregnancy news she is facing an issue at her European home. The actress has a beautiful property located in Paris, and the city is currently in the throes of riots and trouble.
Her residence has historic architecture and is located on the city’s iconic Left Bank (Rive Gauche). Featured previously in Architectural Digest, the apartment expertly balances traditional details with contemporary mid-century furnishings and bold modern art. She worked with designer Axel Huynh to perfect the space.
Her floor-to-ceiling windows overlook a classic Parisian tree-lined street, and the property also has a spa-like bathroom for the star to relax in.
Hilary also has properties in Colorado and New York, so it is likely she is using these during the uncertain time in Paris, particularly given the fact that she is heavily pregnant. It is believed her Colorado base is where she usually resides with her husband Philip Schneider and their twins, Aya and Ohm.
Why are there riots in Paris?
Demonstrations were originally organised to speak out against rising living costs, soaring energy prices, and underfunded public services, however, radical fringe groups are being blamed for the anti-social unrest seen throughout the city. The police are trying to implement curfews in certain hotspots to disperse the groups. Outside of the capital, major incidents have also occurred across France, including a fire that severely damaged the historic 19th-century City Hall in Limoges, as well as clashes in Lyon, Marseille, and Lille.
President Macron has condemned the rioters and looters. "Looking at these images, we have all asked ourselves: what was going through their minds? How can French people do this to France? Nothing justifies it, nothing explains it, nothing excuses it. Tonight, we all feel anger and shame," he said on 18 October, during a public address.
Hilary's surprise pregnancy news
The two-time Oscar winner surprised her fans with her pregnancy news on 14 October. The family creatively announced the pregnancy with a video on social media featuring glow-stick figures dancing in the dark, revealing a small baby outline over Swank's bump. The star has since stepped out, showcasing her baby bump after filming an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show.
During her television segment, Swank addressed the criticism women face when having children later in life, pointing out the double standard regarding older mothers compared to older fathers and reflecting on how critics often fail to consider personal perspectives.
The upcoming arrival, due in December, will join three-year-old twins Aya and Ohm, whom Swank and Schneider welcomed in April 2023. Hilary has previously described motherhood as "the most extraordinary thing in the world".
