Barack treats Tinseltown to his presidential punch lines

On 30 April 2012

What do Kim Kardashian, Hillary Clinton and the US Secret Service all have in common –  they were all targets of Barack Obama's humour at a White House gala.

Taking to the podium at the annual Correspondents' Dinner in Washington, POTUS – to give him his presidential acronym – was on cracking form.In a skit recorded recorded backstage, he was heard asking: "What am I doing here? I'm opening for (presenter) Jimmy Kimmel and telling knock-knock jokes to Kim Kardashian. Why is she famous anyway?".

Then, appearing before the star-studded audience, Barack smiled cheekily and said: "Thank you all for taking a break in your schedule of not passing any laws to be here tonight." The guests – including George Clooney, Kim Kardashian and Eva Longoria – were shaking with laughter at his comedy routine. And his wife Michelle – dazzling in a multi coloured print gown from Naeem Khan – also sat giggling from a nearby table.

POTUS' PUNCHLINES

  • On Himself: " Look at my hair! I really went grey. I'm like a five on the Just For Men scale "
  • On rival Mitt Romney: " (Romney) and I actually have a lot in common. We both have degrees from Harvard. I have one, he has two. What a snob!"
  • On Kim Kardashian: " Why is she famous anyway?" On Hilary Clinton: "Four years ago, I was locked in a brutal primary battle with Hilary Clinton. Four years later, she won't stop drunk texting me from Cartagena"
  • On First Dog Bo: "America's dogs can't afford four more years of Obama, that's 28 years for dogs"
