Celebrations in Morocco as Prince Moulay Hassan celebrates his 10th birthday

The Moroccan royal palace this week released a series of images to mark the 10th birthday of the country's young prince, Moulay Hassan.

Dressed in white, the angelic youngster is seen flanked by his proud parents, King Mohammed VI and Princess Lalla Salma.

The couple also have a daughter, Lalla Khadija, who is six, but the princess doesn't appear in her brother's birthday snaps.

Wednesday marked a day of national celebrations reminiscent of the pageantry which took place when Moulay Hassan was born in May 2003.

Although he is only 10, the young royal is already an integral part of public life and often takes centre stage when he attends engagements with his father, who he will one day succeed on the throne.

With father and son attending to royal duties, Moulay Hassan's mother recently attended the glittering Dutch inauguration which saw Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands become king.

Princess Lalla Salma's stunning sartorial choices rivalled those of Willem-Alexander's wife, the newly-styled Queen Maxima, and thrilled royal watchers.

Her series of Arabian-inspired dresses placed her firmly on the fashion map alongside European royals like Princess Mary of Denmark and Sweden's Crown Princess Victoria.
