In his book, King Charles III: The Inside Story, author Robert Hardman reveals that King Charles thinks highly of his daughter-in-law, the Princess of Wales.
Kate has been part of the royal fold for a long time, having known her husband, Prince William, since their university days. She married William in 2011 and has been a full-time working royal ever since.

Beloved daughter-in-law

On a state visit to Kenya in November 2023, the King referred to Kate as his "beloved daughter-in-law" during a speech reflecting on his family's deep connections to the East African nation — the very place where William proposed in 2010.
Recalling her initial introduction to the royal family during her 2010 engagement interview, the future Princess revealed: "I was quite nervous about meeting William's father, but he was very, very welcoming, very friendly. It couldn't have gone easier, really, for me."
Love and respect
The pair share a close bond, and the King's influence on Kate has been evident over the years. Following her completion of the Three Peaks Challenge, Kate shared a moving message about her approach to life during and after cancer treatment. Emphasising her appreciation for holistic therapies, she wrote: "Through this challenge, I want to raise awareness for the deeper impact of serious illness and the importance of holistic healthcare."

After Charles was diagnosed with cancer in February 2024 and Kate in January 2024, the pair bonded further over their shared health journeys and aligned views on recovery.
