80% of Britons support formally stripping Prince Andrew of his dukedom
A YouGov poll has shown that 80% of Britons support formally stripping Prince Andrew of his dukedom, some days after he gave up his royal titles (he remains a prince but has ceased to be the Duke of York, and is no longer a working royal), amid ongoing allegations pertaining to his relationship with late pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
The survey found four in five members of the public backed the idea, with 63% "strongly" in favor after Andrew relinquished his Duke of York title last week, and with 17% "somewhat" supporting the idea. Only legislation can officially remove Andrew's dukedom, though he has pledged not to use it, so it is currently held in abeyance.
The YouGov poll found that 6% opposed the idea; 4% somewhat and 2% strongly, while 14% of nearly 6,700 adults questioned did not know.
