President Donald Trump was full of compliments for the Royal Family after hosting the King and Queen at the White House in April 2026, following a packed four-day agenda that included a state banquet and a speech to Congress.
While Trump publicly praised Charles as the "greatest king" to the press, away from the cameras, it seems he had even more to say – but what?
What did Donald Trump secretly say?
During the visit, he met royal author Robert Hardman in the Oval Office to discuss his new biography about the late Queen, Elizabeth II.
Writing in the Daily Mail, Hardman said the President asked after the Prince and Princess of Wales, saying about William: "William, he'll be a good King, won't he? He's very nice. A great guy. I like him."
© Getty ImagesHe was also full of praise for Kate, 44, calling her "perfect" and "so great". "How's she doing?" the President was said to have asked. He went on to comment about her cancer diagnosis and bravery in her recovery: "She's so great. She was sick, people said crazy things about her, and she was so brave."
Trump last met the Princess of Wales in September, when he attended a state banquet at Windsor Castle. At the time, he described Kate as "so radiant, and so healthy and so beautiful".
The President was seated next to her for the dinner, with the Princess radiating elegance in a couture gown by British designer Phillipa Lepley with a gold Chantilly lace overlay.
