Princess Eugenie has finally revealed her baby daughter's sweet name – but there was a noticeable change in her announcement.
The royal, 36, and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, revealed on Monday that they've named their daughter Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank.
Accompanying the announcement, which came 14 days after Eugenie gave birth in a hospital in Lisbon, Portugal, were three adorable images of their new arrival.
The first photo, which showed Adelaide wrapped in a baby-blue blanket, unexpectedly revealed the side of her face.
In another, big brothers August, five, and Ernest, three, doted over their baby sister in a rare image from the Princess, who regularly angles their faces away from the camera.
By contrast, the first photo Eugenie released of her newborn on 4 August hid her face, with the baby lying on her front and facing away from the camera.
In recent years, non-working royals have tended to obscure their babies' faces from public view in social media posts, so sharing Adelaide's face is unusual.
Which members of the royal family don't show their children's faces?
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle haven't shown their children's faces directly in years. Instead, when Meghan shares photographs of Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, to her Instagram account, they are facing away from the camera or have emojis obscuring their faces.
It appears to have inspired Eugenie's sister, Princess Beatrice, who obscured baby Athena's face when sharing the first pictures of her in January 2025.
Athena, now one, was seen in a white babygrow with her sleeve carefully protecting her face.
Beatrice's eldest daughter, Sienna, four, has seldom been pictured, but is usually photographed from the back of her head.
Eugenie more frequently shares pictures of her children but will only occasionally reveal their faces.
Princess Eugenie's adorable baby girl Adelaide
Eugenie and Jack's latest addition to their family was born on 3 August. Both mother and baby were said to be doing well, while the King was said to be "delighted".
Adelaide is 15th in line to the throne and the fifth grandchild of the former Duke and Duchess of York, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson.
Taking to Instagram on Monday, Eugenie said: "2 weeks ago today we welcomed our girl to the world. And since then we've had the most special, cosy and love-filled time."
She also revealed that they chose the name Adelaide to blend English and Portuguese history, referring to Maria Adelaide of Portugal and Queen Adelaide, who was married to William IV.
Her middle name, Elizabeth, was a sweet nod to the late Queen, and Annina is believed to have been inspired by a personal connection.
