Princess Märtha Louise of Norway was forced to deny rumours that she and her husband, Shaman Durek Verrett, are expecting.
Earlier this week, photos of the couple - who married in 2025 in nuptials exclusively covered by HELLO! - were the subject of AI photos, manipulated to make it appear as though Princess Märtha Louise is pregnant.
In one of the false images, Princess Märtha Louise appeared to be showing off a baby bump, while a second showed the husband and wife duo smiling at the camera while holding a baby scan.
Addressing the images, Märtha Louise's longstanding manager and spokesperson, Carina Scheele Carlsen, said in an email to Norwegian broadcaster TV 2.
"We are aware that false claims and manipulated images of Princess Märtha Louise are being spread on social media, and this is something we take seriously and are following up on."
According to the broadcaster, the fake posts surfaced on newly created Facebook pages with names like "Aktuelt Nå" and "Aktuelt Puls," published in both Norwegian and German. Some have since been taken down, and Meta, Facebook’s parent company, has said it’s looking into the matter.
Norway royals' history with deepfakes
This isn't the first time this year the Norwegian royal family has had a run-in with a false image, known as a deepfake.
In June, as news broke that then-Crown Princess Mette-Marit had been placed on the waiting list for a lung transplant after her pulmonary fibrosis worsened, AI-generated images began circulating on Facebook showing her in a hospital bed, comforted by Haakon and fed by her daughter, Princess Ingrid Alexandra.
Accompanying captions urged followers to offer prayers and support during her difficult period. At the time, Meta stated it was probing the accounts responsible, while Norwegian attorney Jon Wessel-Aas noted to TV 2 that the legal framework regarding AI-generated media was still relatively unclear.
Who are Princess Märtha Louise's daughters?
Märtha Louise is already a mother of three, all daughters from her marriage to the late author Ari Behn, who died in 2019.
The pair shared Maud Angelica, 23, who is a champion of mental health awareness and has appeared on TV competitions including MasterChef and The Masked Singer.
Leah Isadora, 21, who is an beauty influencer and entrepreneur, and who is currently a contestant on Dancing with the Stars.
Emma Tallulah, 18, is the most private of the three and is focused on her studies and an equestrian career.
