TODAY's Sheinelle Jones opened up about something she rarely talks about. The 48-year-old morning talk show host revealed a nervous tick that creeps in during big moments.

While interviewing comedian John Mulaney, Sheinelle shared: "So for me, when I get nervous, my voice quivers," before adding: "It hasn't happened in a while, hopefully it doesn't," as she mimed knocking on wood.

It was a shocking admission from the high-profile journalist who many may assume doesn't get nervous. But, Sheinelle showed that to overcome her fears, she takes deep breaths.

To assuage the morning show host that she wasn't alone in her performance anxiety, John chimed in, sharing how nervous he was before his sold-out show at Chicago's Wrigley Field.

"What if it went terribly?" the comedian asked.

Sheinelle is not one to hide who she is. The TODAY with Jenna & Sheinelle host has been open about everything from motherhood to her struggles with grief.

The journalist's husband, Uche Ojeh, passed away on May 23, 2025, at the age of 45, following a battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. Throughout his health battle, Sheinelle kept her co-anchors updated.

"I'm stronger than I could have ever imagined. I'm almost so strong it scares me sometimes," Sheinelle shared with her co-host Jenna Bush Hager on April 17, almost 12 months after losing Uche. She built up strength after having to brave his funeral, which was attended by hundreds of her loved ones.

"I remember being at his funeral service, and it was certainly a blur. I only looked back twice. You know, the widow sits in the front," she explained during an interview on Meet the Press. "I remember telling the organizers at the church that I expected around a couple hundred people… It was not just a couple hundred people."

Since her devastating loss, Sheinelle has become the sole parent to her three children, son Kayin, 16, and twins Clara and Uche, 14. The nerves she may feel for big moments in her career are nowhere to be found in motherhood.

In May 2026, Sheinelle revealed on 4th Hour that she was in the process of moving out of the family's home, reportedly a residence in Livingston Manor, in upstate New York, which is about two hours away from New York City.

"I'm moving," she said during a May 14 episode of TODAY, sharing: "The kids are going to a new school, so we're moving. I have been going through boxes and boxes and boxes in our basement."

Regardless of her nervous tick or where her family lives, Sheinelle and her children are keeping Uche's memory alive.
