Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos shared a heated discussion over their $27 million townhouse during the September 1 episode of LIVE!. The conversation arose as the couple discussed tips on how to save energy and money while using the air conditioning.

However, the hosts found themselves at odds over whether their home is too hot or too cold. Mark read a statement that suggested setting the AC to "auto" was the best way to keep costs lower in households bills. "You know what saves even more energy. Turning it off," replied Kelly.

"You mean turning it off and leaving it off?" asked Mark. "Yes. I feel like our house is always too cold," said Kelly, who added that her preferred temperature in the home would be 75 degrees. While Mark agreed that he was happy to have that temperature during the day, he said at night it's been "scientifically proven by experts" that it's best to sleep in cooler temperatures around 68 degrees.

Kelly then came up with a plan to solve their dispute. "There's seven days in a week. Let's do three days where I'm comfortable and four days where you're comfortable. That's a good compromise," she said.

"Okay. In the three days that you're comfortable, do I have to be in the same place?" replied Mark. "No, there's plenty of bedrooms. You can go chill, put your chilly cheeks somewhere else," responded Kelly.

"Forget that. I'm dead. I'm dead below 72," Kelly said of sleeping in cooler temperatures. She then asked the audience if they sleep with their AC set to 68 degrees. "Well, guess what? I'm not sleeping over at your house. Forget the sleepover we planned. It's not happening," she responded to the audience's applause.

Kelly explained that she's been previously so cold in her home that she's been forced to turn on the heater next to her bed to "warm up." "You're the one that comes over, and you come over to cuddle me, and you're like, 'Oh, your hands are so cold. Your feet are so cold,'" she said to Mark. "I'm like, 'Yeah, it's cold in here.'"

"But on your side of the bed it's warm," replied Mark. "I have to sleep on my hands," concluded Kelly.

The couple reside in a $27 million townhouse on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Kelly and Mark purchased the lavish abode 12 years ago and transformed it into a modern living space with notes of French and Old Hollywood glamor inspired by the film Mommie Dearest.

Kelly has called her home her "favorite place on earth". "We’ve moved several times in our lives, but no matter where we go, for me, this is my forever home," she previously shared. "When I walked in here, I was like, 'This is the final place where I will live.' I love this house so much." She continued: "I don’t want to sound morbid but they’ll have to carry me out of here feet first because I have gotten good and comfortable in this house."
