On October 7, Craig Melvin returned home to Columbia, South Carolina, for a special honour. The Today Show host was awarded the inaugural Ripples of Impact Medal from Mayor Daniel Rickenmann for his services to the community.
The NBC star took to Instagram on Friday to pen a heartfelt message to his fans following the tribute. Alongside a photograph of him posing with his wife, Lindsay Czarniak, and Mayor Daniel, Craig wrote: "I've always been proud to call Columbia home, and this week was a reminder of just how much this community means to me. On Wednesday, I had the honor of receiving the inaugural Ripples of Impact Medal from Mayor Daniel Rickenmann in my hometown of Columbia, South Carolina."
He continued: "Being back with so many of the folks who helped shape me, encouraged me, and continue to support me made the recognition that much more meaningful. I’m incredibly grateful for this honor, but even more grateful for the people and the community that helped make me who I am today."
Craig looked suave in a dove-gray suit tailored for the occasion, wearing his blue medal around his neck with pride. Meanwhile, Lindsay looked chic in a navy-blue gown that featured an asymmetric neckline with a subtle knee-high slit.
The NBC host was inundated with support by his fans in the comments section. "Congratulations Craig! This is so well deserved," penned one social media user. "You are the best Craig! So proud to know you and always cheering you on!" added another follower. "You are amazing Craig! I have watched you since i was a child and now love watching you every morning still as an adult. Congrats! Keep shining bright and keeping the glass half full," wrote a third fan.
Craig Melvin's family life
Craig joined as a regular host on the NBC show following Hoda Kotb's departure in January 2025. Away from the show, Craig is a family man. The host and his wife, Lindsay, met while both working at NBC Washington, with Craig enlisted as a news anchor in 2008 and Lindsay securing the title of sports anchor. The pair tied the knot in 2011 with a wedding in Washington D.C. – the city where they met – at the Church of the Holy City. They later welcomed their son, Delano, in 2014, and their daughter, Sybil, in 2016.
According to Realtor.com, the family's home in Connecticut is worth an estimated $6.2 million – it boasts six bedrooms and a whole host of amenities. While Craig is from Columbia, SC, he relocated to Westport, CT, from Washington, DC, almost a decade ago when he joined Today.
