Travis Kelce has broken his silence after Prince William admitted he tried to "move" him out of the now-famous selfie that hard-launched his relationship with Taylor Swift on Instagram.

William recently appeared on The Graham Norton Show and admitted he didn't understand the "significance" of the 2024 photo, which featured him, Taylor, Travis, and his eldest children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, until recently.

"I wasn't until recently. I hadn't appreciated the significance — and actually, I was trying to move him out of the photo," William joked on the show.

"But Travis kept coming back in, and I couldn't work out why he kept coming back in," he continued. "I was trying to move him out so it was just me and Taylor and the children."

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end has now shared his reaction to the future king's comments, joking that he hopes his and Taylor's marriage "doesn't go south" for William's sake.

"I get it, man. I think we all get it," Travis said on his and brother Jason Kelce's New Heights podcast on Wednesday, October 28.

"I was just a boyfriend at that point. You know? I wasn't her husband yet. You know? We don't really know if this is gonna last, so it's kinda just move out of the way real quick so we can keep this photo forever."

He jokingly added: "Yeah. Hopefully, this doesn't go south. Otherwise, this photo is not gonna be as good."

Making it clear he has no hard feelings toward William, Travis added: "Shout out to Prince William, man."

The photo was taken in June 2024 during Taylor's eight-night run at London's Wembley Stadium for her Eras Tour.

Taylor, William, George and Charlotte posed for a selfie alongside then-boyfriend Travis, and it broke the internet when posted on Instagram, as it was the first-ever picture publicly shared by Taylor or Travis of them together. They had started dating nine months earlier.

The Waleses' night out at the Eras Tour coincided with William's 42nd birthday, but it was not the first time he had met Taylor; the pair met in 2013 when Taylor attended a Kensington Palace gala for the Centrepoint charity.

During the gala, William was called up on stage alongside Taylor and Jon Bon Jovi to sing "Livin' on a Prayer," and he later said of the moment: "To this day, I still do not know what came over me. Honestly, even now I'm cringing at what happened next, and I don't understand why I gave in.

"But, frankly, if Taylor Swift looks you in the eye, touches your arm, and says, 'Come with me...' I got up like a puppy and went, 'Yeah, OK, that seems like a great idea. I'll follow you.'"

Travis and Taylor began dating in summer 2023 and made their official debut in late September when Taylor joined Travis' mom Donna Kelce and his friends at a Kansas City Chiefs game.

They got engaged in August 2025 and tied the knot on July 3, 2026, at New York City's Madison Square Garden.
