Move over, Daisy Duke, a darker and more seasonally appropriate Jessica Simpson has arrived!
The pop star, 46, went full brunette for the fall season, ditching her signature dirty blonde locks in favor of a broodier style.
"You never need a reason to look hot," celebrity hair stylist and colorist Rita Hazan wrote alongside a snap of the singer sporting chocolate brown hair, styled into loose waves cascading down her shoulders.
It's safe to say fans quickly became obsessed, responding to the photo with comments like: "Love this color and esp on her," and: "It's giving rock-star and I love it!!!!" plus: "Iconic!!! I love your work so much," as well as: "This is an absolutely killer color on her. You nailed it!"
This isn't the first time Rita helped Jessica go brunette, though, helping the "I Think I'm In Love With You" hitmaker similarly go "hot chocolate" in December 2025 as well, just in time for the holidays.
"It took a few hours to color because we kept making it darker and darker," Rita told People of the change. "I didn't want to go too dark at once, so we gradually increased the hue to ensure that we got the most perfect tone."
"For years we kept different variations of either blonde or very blonde," she recalled, noting that Jessica had been going for slightly grungier and browner shades in her blonde locks for quite a while now. "Just recently I took her dirty blonde, and the shade continues to get deeper and more brunette."
As for why Jessica wanted the change? "I think her music is very moody," she explained to the publication at the time. "It's a full vibe, so the hair has to match — very deep and multi layered and dimensional with the color."
"This shade is pretty dark for her but maybe we could go a little darker," Rita teased, a foreshadowing for her even darker new look. "Her hair color still has to be sexy and soft. Darker colors can be dense and aging for anyone." She also predicted at the time that a switch for many blondes into darker tones would likely be a trend for 2026.
And for the duo, their working relationship is as seamless as can be, as they're both able to switch easily between joking around like old friends and work mode, with Rita focusing on the coloring and Jessica on her writing and music.
"We laugh so hard the entire time," the colorist gushed. "Except for when I need to focus, then she works while I work with the color." And during the process, what was playing in the background? Jessica's own holiday catalog, of course! "It was really amazing to go down memory lane together of what we were up to in the early 2000s."
