J.K. Rowling posts Harry Potter spin-off online

Tuesday July 8, 2014

JK Rowling gave fans a glimpse of a grown up Harry Potter in a new story posted on her Pottermore website.

The 1,500 word short story is the first Potter fans have read about the wizard since Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was published in 2007.

It is written in the style of a gossip column for the fictional Daily Prophet by reporter Rita Skeeter, a minor character in the novels.

Harry Potter is depicted as a greying 34-year-old in the story as he attends the final of the Quidditch World Cup with old pals Ron and Hermione, in sync with the ‘muggle’ FIFA World Cup 2014.

Mark Hutchinson, Joanne's spokesman, has said that there are "no plans" for a new Harry Potter sequel.

Since the Harry Potter collection, the author has published a novel for adults, The Casual Vacancy, and two detective thrillers under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith.

In collaboration with Warner Bros JK Rowling will make her  screen-writing debut in a proposed three-film series of Harry Potter spin-off book Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
