Amy Winehouse given two year conditional for assault

Thursday January 21, 2010

In court on Wednesday, singer Amy Winehouse admitted assaulting a theatre manager during a Christmas pantomime.

As a result of the hearing, the Rehab star was given a two year conditional discharge and must pay £85 in costs.

The 26-year-old is also due to pay £100 in compensation to Richard Pound - the victim of her agression.

The incident occured at a London preformance during which Amy was asked to move from her seat to a private box because of the noise she was making.

On her way she asked Mr Pound for a vodka and coke, to which he replied, asking: "Don't you think you should have a glass of water?"

Amy proceeded to grab his hair and pull, the court heard on Wednesday.

"You clearly have taken effort from this report to address your alcohol problems and any other problems you may have, so you get credit for that," the judge told her.

"But if you commit another offence you'll be hit hard and you'll be hit twice."

The conditional agreement means if Amy commits a further offence within the next two years she will face a re-sentencing.
