Dame Vera tells new generation 'to remember our boys'

Joined by soprano Hayley Westenra, Forces Sweetheart Dame Vera Lynn gives an emotional rendition of We'll Meet Again to launch the Royal Legion's annual poppy appeal.

The pair held hands while singing the 92-year-old's wartime favourite to crowds in London's Horse Guards Parade.

They were accompanied by the Regimental Band of the Irish Guards.

Afterwards Dame Vera said: "While we are doing this I want you all to remember our boys over there in Afghanistan and not forgetting our boys in the last conflict."

The aim of the appeal is to raise £31 million pounds to support troops in Afghanistan and the families of those killed in the conflict.
