Jamie Oliver cooks up an unusual treat for Jonathan Ross' Friday night chat show

It was something of a departure from his simple, no-fuss recipes.

Jamie Oliver whipped up an unusual dish for Jonathan Ross as he joined the telly host on his Friday night chat show.

The Essex-born chef served 'rocky oysters', something which he learned how to prepare while working on Channel 4 programme Jamie's American Road Trip.

But despite its name, the delicacy didn't contain any seafood - the main ingredient was in fact bull's testicles.

Jamie added the new addition to his culinary repertoire while in the States for the show. In the new series he aims to uncover the eating habits of America.

As well as telling Jonathan about his US adventures, Jamie revealed details of another of forthcoming TV ventures.

The 34-year-old is to go on genealogy show Who Do You Think You Are to investigate his African roots.

After the recent death of his grandfather's brother, Jamie discovered he is sixth-generation Sudanese and is desperate to learn more.

Joining the chef on the first show of the new run of Friday Night With Jonathan Ross - which airs on Friday night on BBC1 -  is Jonathan's good friend Ricky Gervais.
