Actress and model Andie MacDowell's second marriage has come to an end with her divorce from her businessman husband, Rhett Hartzog. The childhood sweethearts wed three years ago in North Carolina before 450 guests.
“It’s a painful and very private time,” said one source close to the Four Weddings And A Funeral star. Andie, 46, and Rhett, 45, first met at high school and were reunited in 1999, the same year that she separated from her first husband, musician and actor Paul Qualley.
The L’Oreal model has three teenage children by Paul, to whom she was married for 13 years – son Justin and daughters Sarah and Rainey. On the professional front, her enduring natural beauty ensures she is still in demand for modelling work, while she also continues her film career.
This year Andie takes the lead role in The Last Sign, in which she plays a woman haunted by the memory of her late abusive husband. Things lighten up for 2005, with an appearance alongside Queen Latifah and Kevin Bacon in the comedy Beauty Shop, currently filming.
