Incredibly, Enrique has never traded on his father's lucrative name. He has set out to establish his own musical style, with 80s pop his inspiration

Nor is Enrique keen to emulate his father's lady-killer image. While smouldering on stage, he is still single at 26, and says he's shy in affairs of the heart

For most budding stars, advice on how to survive the vagaries of the music business from legendary crooner Julio Iglesias would be music to their ears. After all, with 80 albums under his belt and sales of 250 million records, Julio’s outsold most of the big names in the business. But as Spanish heart-throb Enrique Iglesias struts out of his father’s shadow, it appears that even a gentle parental reminder to take it easy has failed to strike a chord.

“I tell him to slow down in life,” says world-class lady-killer Julio. “He’s just bought himself a plane like mine. It took me 25 years to get one and he’s got himself one in two years.”

In fact second-generation pop idol Enrique has notched up more than a private jet. Before taking the British charts by storm with a double No 1 for his single Hero and his album Escape, the singer-songwriter had already established himself as one of the world’s best-selling Latin artists – and built a movie-star style mansion in Miami. Tens of thousands of female fans scream as the smouldering love god with the soulful brown eyes sways his hips on stage during worl tours, while his albums have gone platinum or gold in 32 countries.
