R&B singer Alicia Keys took to the stage along with a line-up of international stars at a Bangkok concert to raise funds for tsunami relief work this week.

In addition to a host of local talent, the MTV Asia event was backed by Robbie Williams and Sting, who contributed taped messages of support.

The show - which aims to reach one billion viewers, making it the largest event of its kind for the music network – also featured a video of Latin performer Ricky Martin touring areas devastated by the tidal wave.

Other big names lending a hand included Irish singer Ronan Keating, who was shown singing and playing guitar on the tsunami-hit island of Phuket accompanied by Thai children, and Jennifer Lopez. The American diva's performance was also delivered on video.

Alicia's Bangkok performance is not her only contribution to the aid effort. Grammy organisers have announced the Feelings singer will be joining Bono, Stevie Wonder, Brian Wilson and Norah Jones to perform Beatles track Across The Universe at the upcoming music awards ceremony. The song will then be made available on the internet with all proceeds going to the relief fund.
