David Beckham’s three-year-old son is regularly seen in designer duds, but in a few years little Brooklyn will be able to sport clothes created by his own dad. The football star and style icon has signed up with department store Marks & Spencer to develop a fashion line for kids aged six to 14.
The deal, thought to be worth millions of pounds, teams the Manchester United midfielder with the in-house designers at M&S to create tops, trousers and accessories for the under-15s.
In a statement, Becks said he signed on with the store because wanted to help create the kind of clothes he would have chosen to wear when he was younger. “When Marks & Spencer offered me the opportunity to actively assist in the design of clothing for youngsters, I was delighted,” he says.
M&S, who joins sports company Adidas and Police sunglasses on the list of brands that bear the Beckham name, is understandably “thrilled” with the new partnership. “David is the perfect icon for this boyswear range,” said the Marks & Spencer spokeswoman Michele Jobling. “Not only is he the number one sporting hero but he is also a style icon and role model.”
