Pop star Cheryl and Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini's 18-month marriage officially came to an end on Thursday. The former couple were handed a decree nisi at the Central Family Court in London, with the "quickie divorce" finalised in a matter of minutes.

The 33-year-old singer's rep confirmed the news in a statement to HELLO! Online: "Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini have today obtained Decree Nisi in their divorce proceedings. No further comment will be made and they ask for their privacy to be respected."

Their ill-fated relationship ended in January - it was previously claimed the former Girls Aloud singer waited until last year's X Factor was over to file for divorce from her husband, officially splitting on their secret two-year anniversary.

The divorce news comes amid speculation that Cheryl is pregnant with her first child after she was recently snapped with what appears to be a baby bump.

A source told The Sun on Sunday that Cheryl is "delighted" to finally leave the marriage behind her and move on with her new life.

"This has been the result of months of negotiations," the insider said. "After months of debate Cheryl is really relieved the terms have been finally agreed by both sides."

Earlier this week, Jean-Bernard shared a cryptic Instagram post as news of their impending divorce broke. The French businessman uploaded a meme of Hollywood actor Denzel Washington with a cigarette in his teeth - which had the words "What a day" emblazoned across the top.

The social media image, which was posted on Sunday, was simply captioned "Training day" - in reference to Washington's film the picture came from.
