James Martin has delighted his fans after announcing his return to Twitter and Instagram over the weekend. Sharing a sweet throwback picture from his childhood, the celebrity chef confirmed he is back on his social media platforms following a month-long break due to online abuse.

"I'm back and this is the same look aged four I have just given my chefs when one of them wanted to know what's happening next week," he wrote in the caption, referencing the upcoming lockdown.

The sweet post received a flurry of messages, with many sharing their joy over the star's return. "Yay so pleased you are back. You were missed," remarked one fan.

Another said: "Oh welcome back. I've missed you. So glad you’re back with us all xxx." A third post read: "So pleased your back have missed your texts, not only cooking, but your little dogs, and your love of your garden, take care."

At the start of October, Martin revealed he was subjected to online abuse when his virtual cooking class, Dine In With James Martin, was hit with technical issues.

After receiving some complaints, the 48-year-old explained: "Having seen some of the comments posted online regarding last night's cook along and the anger towards me given the technical issues that the production team were having, I would like to apologise again for this and I will be chasing up with Live Nation, the production company."

The special online show saw James try and teach guests how to make a three-course meal. "IT team and all the people they hired, to find out the problem," he added. "Having said that, this is small comfort to some of you online who are quite rightly angry at me."

The celebrity chef is adored by many

On his decision to leave his platform, James concluded: "To the rest of you who had a good night, thank you but due to the large amount of vile comments posted directly towards me, this will be my last post as I will be taking a break from posting personally and all social media for the foreseeable future."
