Carol Vorderman had good reason to celebrate this week. The former Countdown star took to social media on Tuesday to announce the start of her new series, Closer To Home. Carol, 60, filmed a short clip showing her counting down from ten, in celebration of the launch. She was dressed all in black, with her chic ensemble highlighting her hourglass curves.
"The countdown has begun.....my new series CLOSER TO HOME BBC one Wales at 8.30pm TONIGHT...watch on @BBCiPlayer and Sky 978 or Virgin 864... Cup of tea compulsory," she wrote.

The new show sees Carol return to her roots on a road trip through north Wales. In the first 30-minute episode, she headed back to her hometown of Prestatyn and shared personal memories of her upbringing in the 1960s and finds out how things have changed for women since her childhood.

It proved to be a big hit with viewers. "Loved that Carol! Watched from Denbigh and great to see our local area. How lovely it is!" one fan tweeted the star, while a second wrote: "Hi Carol, we live in Mold, Flintshire. It was lovely to watch your show last night. I think it helped cheer everyone up on these winter and uncertain times. Looking forward to next week's show. Great to see women making a name for themselves too."
Carol – who celebrated her 60th birthday on Christmas Eve - now lives in Bristol, but also owns a home in Pembrokeshire in Wales. In recent weeks, she has been giving fans a sneak peek inside her gorgeous English property – including her pristine kitchen, which fuses country and modern styles, with a marble island, white kitchen cupboards and a stylish black oven.

And this week, she shared a glimpse of her cosy living room. This time, her followers were shown the star's table positioned directly in front of the television, which is mounted upon the wall. Below the TV set, Carol has an authentic brick fireplace complete with faux log burner.
Various Christmas decorations could also be seen around the room including a Santa Claus statue and a glowing reindeer.
