"It's always got to be the most difficult thing you can imagine, whether it's, like, a Beef Wellington — which, I didn't even know what that was until I met you," Blake said on From Apple Music With Love, a holiday special podcast.
"The fact that you wanted to make a tradition out of... it's almost like an anti-tradition, because a tradition is something that you've done your whole life, and that you keep repeating," shared Gwen, adding: "But you keep trying to not repeat and make something new again and again and again. And that's your tradition."

However Gwen also revealed that she often feels like she may "get in trouble" breaking her parents' traditions.
"Growing up as a child, my parents were very traditional," the singer revealed. "So the idea that now I somehow have control over what we're actually putting in our mouths at Christmas, it makes me feel like I'm going to get in trouble."
This will be Gwen and Blake's first festive season as a married couple
But she thanked Blake for "pushing me to find new creative ways to feed our family".
The couple kickstarted the holiday season with a wonderful Thanksgiving together with her family.
"It's a tradition, my whole family flies out, and we have not been back there since the Wedding," she shared earlier in November. "So, I'm really looking forward to it. We have a new house there, we have a new life there. So, it’s going to be our first married Thanksgiving, very grateful, very excited."
The Voice stars tied the knot in July this year on Blake's ranch in Oklahoma, where they got engaged in October 2020, and where Blake is said to have created a one-of-a-kind, intimate wedding by building a chapel on his estate.
No Doubt singer Gwen wore a custom Vera Wang white strapless multi-layered tulle ball gown wedding dress, which the designer described as "modern minimalist construction".
She added a beautiful veil that featured the embroidered names of Blake, Gwen, Kingston, Zuma and Apollo. This was a beautiful touch that paid tribute to the children she shares with ex-partner, Gavin Rossdale.
