Elon Musk's estranged daughter looked very unimpressed when she was asked about her father during a red carpet interview. Transgender model Vivian Wilson, 22, walked away from a journalist after he enquired about her tech billionaire father, 54, who she is not on speaking terms with.

Vivian, whom Musk had with his first wife Justine Wilson, attended a Desigual Vintage event in Ibiza, Spain on Tuesday. The model looked happy at the beginning of the interview, but things quickly turned sour when the reporter brought up her dad, who previously described Vivian as being 'killed by the woke mind virus".

"Your father the best, no?" the journalist asked. Appearing to think she misheard him, Vivian responded: "My what? Sorry?"

The journalist repeated himself and said: "The best, your father." Vivian replied: "Okay," before she abruptly cut off the interview and walked away.

Elon and Vivian's complicated relationship

Vivian came out as transgender in 2020 and in 2022, she petitioned a California court to change her name and legal gender marker. She also said at the time that she no longer wished "to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or form."

The following year, Musk discussed his estrangement with eldest child Vivian and called her a "communist" and blamed her politics on the expensive Crossroads private school she attended in Santa Monica, where tuition costs up to $50,000 per year.

"She went beyond socialism to being a full communist and thinking that anyone rich is evil," he told author Walter Isaacson.

Musk spoke about Vivian again during a 2024 interview with psychologist and author Jordan Peterson, where he said he had been 'tricked' into allowing one of his children to become transgender.

"I was essentially tricked into signing documents for one of my older boys, Xavier," he said, using Vivian's birth name.

"This was really before I had any understanding of what was going on, and we had COVID going on, so there was a lot of confusion. And I was told Xavier might commit suicide.

"I was tricked into doing this. It wasn't explained to me that puberty blockers are actually just sterilization drugs."

He added: "I lost my son, essentially. They call it 'deadnaming' for a reason. The reason they call it 'deadnaming' is because your son is dead, so my son, Xavier, is dead, killed by the woke mind virus."

Vivian responded in an interview with NBC News where she described Musk as an absent father who was hardly around while she was growing up. She also said he "harassed" her for "queerness".

"He doesn't know what I was like as a child because he quite simply wasn't there," she said. "And in the little time that he was, I was relentlessly harassed for my femininity and queerness."

Musk has 14 children, six of them with Vivian's mother, Justine. He has three children with Canadian singer Grimes, four with Neuralink executive Shivon Zilis and one with author Ashley St. Clair.
