Tamzin Outhwaite couldn't hide her pride for her eldest son, Flo, as he turned 18 on Thursday. The proud mum shared a carousel of images of her teenager, including sweet family snaps and images of Flo following in her footsteps.
In a lengthy caption, Tamzin penned: "Happy 18th birthday to my incredible 1st born @floellisouthwaite who deserves all the goodness this world has to offer, and all the joy coming to him! I could not be more proud of you. You inspire, surprise and astound me daily.
"Your kindness, heart, dedication, determination, resilience, humour, courage, talent, work ethic, passion, grace, positivity…. (I could go on) are a joy to behold! What you have already achieved in these first 18 years is AMAZING. I love you SO MUCH… Here's to YOU, my darling. May adulthood bring you peace, happiness & the success you so deserve."
Images in Tamzin's photo gallery saw Flo cuddling an adorable dog, alongside images of him playing Sky in a production of Guys & Dolls. Other photos showed the teenager with his younger sister, Marnie, whom he shares a close bond.
Among those who commented on the birthday tribute was Flo's grandfather, who sweetly said: "I've feared for you for 18 years. I need never have worried. Thanks for educating me and being such a special grandson."
Another said: "Happy birthday @floellisouthwaite I can't believe you're 18!!! Love you so much," while Amanda Holden posted: "Happiest of birthdays."
Flo also responded to his birthday tribute, replying: "Love you mother," alongside a heart emoji. Tamzin quickly wrote back: "Love the very funny, talented bones of you darling."
Flo's transition
Tamzin often keeps her children out of the spotlight, but last year, she revealed that her eldest son, Flo, is transgender, and she spoke about the difficulties she had in initially accepting the news.
Appearing on the Parenting Hell podcast, Tamzin shared: "I've got two kids, and I did have two daughters and now I have a son and a daughter, and that's quite easy for me to say now, but it wasn't maybe six or seven years ago. To see him thriving is just nothing but relief and joy for me, really, because there were some dark times."
She continued: "The way I reacted at the very beginning, I would love to change because I think until you're going through it yourself with your child, it's very difficult to judge other people or to judge a situation because you don't expect that to happen to you or your child.
"What I did initially, I was like, 'Don't be ridiculous.' I didn't say it out loud, but my mind went to, 'That's ludicrous,' and I had to work back from that, talking it through."
The mum-of-two also revealed that her daughter, Marnie, had been Flo's biggest support, referring to him as her "brother" from a young age. She explained that Marnie "has been the most insightful about all of it".
