Tamzin Outhwaite has spoken about how she is coping following her divorce from Tom Ellis. The 43-year-old actress, whose marriage was ended in just 110 seconds in court, revealed that she always looks at the positive side of life. "There is no point wasting energy, time and emotion on stuff that isn't there," Tamzin told the Sunday People magazine. "We are very lucky generally in life. We live in this country and we have our freedom. There's always someone in a worse-off situation and I'd like to instil in my kids that the glass is half-full – then I think your life will be much happier."

She added: "There's always something you can improve or change. But I find it's really important to look at the positives, the things that you do have, not the things you don't." Tamzin and her ex-husband, 35, are parents to two young daughters Florence, six, and two-year-old Marnie Mae. The former couple announced their split last August in a statement that read: "Tamzin Outhwaite and Tom Ellis are sad to confirm they have separated. They continue to support each other as parents and will remain friends. They ask for sensitivity at this difficult time." The following month Tamzin filed for divorce, citing Tom's infidelity as the grounds for dissolution. The New Tricks star was granted a quick divorce in April of this year, ending her seven-year marriage to the Miranda actor.

Tamzin has previously revealed that her split was "a complete shock". "It's been a tough year but when things like this happen to you, your resolve and strength of character come through," she told Good Housekeeping in July. "We are rebuilding quite well," she added. "I don't feel unloved or damaged. I'm thinking about what the possibilities of my future are now. I would have done anything to keep my family together, but it wasn't to be. I do feel pretty strong." Tom and Tamzin met in 2005 through mutual friend James McAvoy, when the actress and James starred in play Breathing Corpses together.
