Gwyneth Paltrow declines Anna Wintour's Met Ball invite

After attending last year's Met Ball, Gwyneth Paltrow said in an interview that it "sucked" and "I'm never going again".

It looks like the actress has stayed true to her word, with a representative for the star confirming: "Gwyneth will not be in New York and is unable to attend the ball."

The fashion world has been speculating for months whether the Shakespeare In Love star would make an appearance.

Many wondered whether Anna Wintour, the host of the event, would still be willing to extend an invitation after Gwyneth's scathing comments.

However, a representative for Vogue said recently said, "We're always happy to have Gwyneth attend the Met Gala."

Talking to Australian radio hosts Kylie and Jackie O shortly after the prestigious fashion event last year, Gwyneth said, "Do you want me to be honest? It sucked.

"You always think, 'Oh my god, it's gonna be so glamorous and amazing and you're going to see all these people.

"And then you get there and it's so hot and it's so crowded and everyone's pushing you!"

She was also not impressed with the theme of last year's event – Punk: Chaos to Couture.

"I think we're all a bit old to dress up punk," she said. "I just went as kind of normal."

Another aspect of the event that she criticised was the performance given by Kanye West, one of Anna Wintour's good friends.

"Kanye West was playing and he was all furious and he threw his microphone down and it was all drama," she said. "I don't know why."
