Heidi Klum returns to her German roots in very surprising outfit

Heidi, 53, and Tom were pictured on Friday, September 25, 2026, at Oktoberfest in Munich, where they both got into the spirit by wearing traditional outfits.

Heidi wore a blue dirndl with red detailing, matching satin heels, and white mod-style sunglasses. 

However, in classic Heidi fashion, there was still a risque element on show as the bodice on the German model's dirndl was tightly fastened, and the white lace top was low-cut, highlighting her curves rather than covering the décolletage.

The bow on the apron was tied on Heidi's right hip, indicating that she is married; bows on the left indicate the wearer is single, middle means undecided or a minor, and the back is for widows.

Tom, 37, the lead guitarist in rock band Tokio Hotel, wore lederhosen and completed his look with black socks.

The pair were joined by friends and family including Tom's brother Bill, and Heidi was pictured with fellow German model Nadja Auermann as they walked with automatic handheld bubble blowers.

Heidi – the host of Hulu's Project Runway – has also given insight into the at-times complicated process of getting dressed in a dirndl. 

In a video posted on social media, Heidi shared a glimpse of her preparations, revealing the difficulties she faced getting the corseted bodice tightened correctly.

The annual celebration – first held 210 years ago in 1810 to celebrate the marriage of Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen – takes place in Theresienwiese and attracts more than seven million visitors each year over two weeks.

Heidi and Tom have been in Munich all week for the celebrations, with Heidi hosting a kick-off party known as HeidiFest at Munich's Hofbräuhaus on September 17, 2026.

The event returned for its second year and was broadcast on RTL for the first time. Husband Tom, daughter Leni, son Henry, and her mother Erna were among the announced guests, alongside Naomi Campbell and Nadja Auermann.

The 2026 celebration saw Heidi arrive by rickshaw and participate in traditional beer-tapping activities. She wore a bright yellow satin dirndl with a matching floral headband before changing into a white dirndl to pose alongside Naomi.

Heidi was born and raised in Bergisch Gladbach, western Germany, and the TV personality has always been proud of her heritage and the opportunity to introduce friends and family to the centuries-old traditions of the region.
