Lourdes Leon is following in her mother's footsteps and becoming something of a fashion icon.

The 30-year-old - who recently celebrated her landmark birthday - took to Instagram on Sunday with a fierce series of photos showing her modelling in leather.

Lourdes - Madonna's eldest child - uploaded three images capturing her posing in clothes from Calvin Klein's exclusive collection for the online fashion and lifestyle platform Zalando.

She showed off her toned arms in a black tank top, teamed with leather trousers, and wore her long dark hair down in a sleek style.

Her followers were quick to respond, flooding the comments with love heart and fire emojis, and the post has already racked up more than 12,000 likes - including one from proud mother Madonna.

Madonna celebrates Lourdes's 30th birthday

The iconic singer marked her eldest child's landmark birthday on 14 October, with a heartfelt Instagram tribute featuring throwback photos and videos documenting her daughter’s life.

The images captured everything from Lourdes as a baby through to her teenage years and adulthood, along with videos of her singing.

"Happy Birthday My Lolita!" Madonna began her caption. "You came to me in a Dream. A fever dream. A Dream called Life. If I tried to write it all down, I would cry a river of tears.

"Your chin was tilted up in my birth canal, you were looking for the stars you were stuck. After 18 hours of labor and your heartbeat slowing down, an emergency C-section was the only option," she continued;

"Did I mention the helicopters and news crews swirling above our heads on the top floor of the hospital in East LA?  Your birth was dramatic. Like our lives.  Our connection - it is Biblical."

Madonna went on: "When I ask God to explain it to me. He tells me - Look in the mirror! We are two sides of the same coin. If what we risk reveals what we value then I would risk it all on you.

The singer paid a loving tribute to her daughter

"Never forget who you are - Little Star, shining brighter than all the stars in the sky. Never forget how to Dream Butterfly.

"Never forget where you come from. From Love."

The 'Little Star' reference carries a special meaning for the mother-daughter duo. Madonna wrote the song Little Star for Lourdes and included it on her 1998 album Ray of Light.

How Lourdes is forging her own path

Lourdes has since established her own career in fashion and music. The model has worked with brands including Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty, Burberry, Marc Jacobs, Swarovski and Mugler, and has appeared in Vogue and Vanity Fair.

Lourdes on her body image

While Lourdes frequently turns heads on red carpets and high-fashion runways, she has maintained a grounded and fiercely independent perspective when it comes to body image, fashion, and self-expression.

Reflecting on the societal pressures placed on women regarding their appearance, Lourdes previously opened up to PAPER Magazine about reclaiming her body autonomy on her own terms, sharing: "The second you reclaim that sexuality as something that is your own, people are mad. As soon as you use that thing that's being used against you, and you're like, 'Let me make this mine, let me do this my way' ... it's only ok if it's other people telling you to be sexual. It's not ok for you to decide for yourself."
