Katy Perry got into the spirit of the festival by rocking colourful braids and fluffy accessories for her time in the desert.

The singer was transformed into a "luminary fairy" while partying at Black Rock.

Both Poppy and Cara visited hair stylist Laura Polko to get their hair braided before visiting the festival.

Laura shared photos of the siblings with their "Mad Max braids" on Instagram, complete with colourful extensions weaved in.

Another model to join in the fun was Karlie Kloss, who shared this photo of herself next to a giant Pacman ghost.

Karlie, Cara and Poppy explored the site with fashion writer Derek Blasberg, who shared this snap of "Robocara" wearing some unique fancy dress.

"Okay. I made it to burning man!!! And I found this. Hung around for awhile. And didn't get any takers. Guess I was a little too dusty..... Might head back tonight ...." he wrote on Instagram.

The actor had nothing but good things to say about the festival - and his new friend Cara.

"Look at this little gem I found in the Burn ?. @caradelevingne I had an amazing time there. I recommend it to anyone who wants a life changing cultural expierence that will expand your mind," he said.

Poppy and Cara also partied with Paris Hilton in the Nevada desert, and appeared to be having lots of fun judging by the photos shared on Instagram.
