The UK is known for its consistently rainy weather, and carrying an umbrella is an everyday essential. The royal family is no exception. The late Queen Elizabeth II often matched her beautiful outfits with her favoured transparent option, the Fulton 'Birdcage' umbrella, to ensure nobody missed her during public appearances.
The Princess of Wales has often been pictured with the wet-weather accessory, and every time she is seen with one, it never fails to look like a stylish add-on to her ensembles.
Catherine memorably carried a statement rainbow umbrella in 2021, whipping it out at the launch of The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood at Kensington Palace. The large, cheerful style stopped her hair from getting ruined, and it also kept her resplendent lilac LK Bennett dress dry. It expertly added a bright pop of colour to her outfit with ease.
In 2022, wearing an elegant, flowing mint green dress made by her personal dressmaker, the then Duchess of Cambridge was all smiles despite the weather as she attended a Buckingham Palace garden party.
Shielded by her pretty umbrella, Catherine greeted members of the public at the event, which was held in the Palace grounds, despite the downpour. Amazingly, her umbrella was made in the same pastel hue.
The Princess of Wales' Wellington boots of choice
Another rain essential that Catherine is a fan of is a pair of Wellington boots.
Wellingtons are not known for their fashion flair, mainly touted as an essential outdoor item of clothing. Somehow, though, Prince William's wife makes them look like a fashion statement. They cement her incredible country wardrobe, which is brimming with cosy outdoor jackets, sumptuous scarves and slim-fitting trousers in a myriad of seasonal greens and browns.
The mother-of-three's go-to Wellington boots are Le Chameau's 'Vierzonord Neoprene Lined Wellington Boot'. The brand launched in the 1920s and was the very first bootmaker to use a zipper on a rubber boot. Like many items in Catherine's wardrobe, they are classic, not trend-led, so it's safe to say they will last for many years to come.
