Brad Pitt may have chosen to stay at home on daddy duty, but his blonde bombshell co-star Diane Kruger ensured there was still a night of glitz and glamour to be had as Quentin Tarantino's war epic, Inglourious Bastards premiered in London on Thursday.

The actress, who has been dating Vancouver-born actor Joshua Jackson since 2006, was on stunning form as she arrived in a black Balmain mini-dress on the arm of Hollywood heavyweight Quentin. And although the crowd wasn't treated to a repeat performance of the cast's group can-can - appropriately showcased at the film's Cannes premiere in May - the actors still received a rapturous welcome as they took to the red carpet.

"Frankly this is overwhelming," the famed film director said in response to the hordes of screaming fans.

Sticking to Diane's side with a protective arm around her waist, Quentin was full of praise for the German actress in her role as a popular film star in Nazi Germany who doubles as a spy for the Allies.

"In the case of Diane it was really wonderful," he says. "We had fun creating almost a mythology of (her) character." The director's long-anticipated movie, which stars Fight Club actor Brad as the lead vengeance-driven lieutenant, revolves around a group of Jewish-American soldiers specially enlisted to target Germans in Nazi-occupied France.

Joining Diane on knockout form for the London screening was Umbrella singer Rihanna, who drew comparisons to Audrey Hepburn with her black lace gloves and tumbling pearl necklaces. Canadian star Neve Campbell, Oscar-nominated Mickey Rourke and Boyzone hunk Ronan Keating were also on hand for the Leicester Square event.
