The I'm A Celebrity contestants broke down in tears as they were presented with emails from home on Wednesday night's episode. After nearly three weeks of surviving in the jungle, the famous faces were comforted with personal messages from their nearest and dearest. In order to receive their letter, each campmate had to randomly select a ball with a fellow contestant's name on it. They then had 90 seconds to roll the ball along a giant keyboard into a "Save" hole, to win their campmate their email.

Luckily all contestants were successful and Kian Egan was sent out to collect the printed copies of the emails. "I have in my possession friends, our emails," said Kian, before pretending to throw them into the fire. One by one the celebrities welled up as they were reminded of their friends and families back home.

"He's transformed so much you'll barely recognise him," read Joey, at which point Alfonso crumbled.Fashion designer David Emanuel received a poignant email from his sister Margaret and from his children, read by Lucy. "This Friday will mark the year anniversary of your first cancer surgery," the message said. "Don't forget how far you've come since then."

Joey was next to have his letter from his father and older sister Frankie read aloud. "Mummy will be so proud of you darling," said Frankie's email. "I know she will always be watching over you. "Olympic swimmer Rebecca Adlington choked up as she read out Kian's first letter from his wife, but then perked up when she realised his second email was from his Westlife band mate Mark Feehily. "God, I'm reading a letter from Mark," she said excitedly. "It's for Kian, not you," quipped Lucy.

The letters were a comforting way to end the evening after a day of rising tension in the camp. Earlier in the episode, the contestants were filmed bickering over who was the most famous when they were asked to rank themselves in order.

Rebecca suggested that as Joey had 2.2million followers on Twitter he should stand in first position. "That's not necessarily true," said Alfonso. "He's only famous in the UK. I'm famous everywhere in the world. The minute you leave the UK it goes from being hero to not quite zero but I've been working for 34 years.""Can your head fit in this camp right now?" laughed Rebecca.

Snooker professional Steve Davis was the fifth celebrity to be voted off the show at the end of Wednesday's episode.
