If, like many, you're missing Chicago Fire being on your screens then you're probably wanting to watch something to fill the void.

The NBC firefighter drama series recently wrapped its eleventh season and although season 12 is definitely happening, it won't be returning anytime soon as the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strikes are preventing the cast from returning to set and filming new episodes.

Fear not, fans! There are many other brilliant shows that are in a similar genre to Chicago Fire that are worth a watch.

Here are seven to add to your list – if you haven't already, of course.

Station 19

It might be an obvious choice, but Station 19 is certainly an option for those who are fans of Chicago Fire. It's a spin-off of the medical drama, Grey's Anatomy, created by Shonda Rhimes (so you know it's going to be good) and has a great cast consisting of Jaina Lee Ortiz, Grey Damon and Jason Winston George.

Blue Bloods

Tom Selleck is just one big name among the cast of this drama which has been going for 13 seasons. A fourteenth is reportedly in the cards, but due to the strike, its return is up in the air. But there's plenty of content to enjoy until then. It focuses on the fictional Raegan family based in the heart of New York with a history of work in law enforcement.

Law & Order: SVU

A classic, right? Law and Order has been going for many years so if you're into your cable crime shows then chances are you don't need to be told how good the show is. However, if you haven't seen it then there are many different options to dive into. There's the original format, plus Special Victims Unit and Criminal Intent. It's now also been confirmed that a Toronto spin-off is on the way.

New Amsterdam

New Amsterdam is relatively new when it comes to the canon of medical television drama. It's been running since 2018 and there are five seasons of content to enjoy. It follows Dr Maximus Goodman as he becomes the director of one of the country's oldest hospitals, and all the trials and tribulations that come with that daunting role.

FBI

FBI was created by Dick Wolf, the brains behind Law & Order, so it's bound to be good. As the title clearly suggests, it focuses on a team of special agents working in the FBI based in New York. But it's more than just cold cases and tracking down criminals, as it's centred on a partnership that leads the crew and is, according to fans, extremely watchable.

Rescue Me

Rescue Me is considered by die-hard fans as the OG firefighter drama, premiering in 2005 and running for seven seasons until it ended in 2011.

The show starred Denis Leary as leading star Tommy Gavin, an NYC-based firefighter who has to deal with a high-pressured job as well as his own personal struggles away from the job including substance abuse, loss and grief. Also appearing in the cast were John Scurti, Daniel Sunjata and Michael Lombardi.

The Resident

Another medical drama that built up quite the fanbase is The Resident, despite it being canceled earlier this year after six seasons.
