Has pregnant Blake Lively stopped dyeing her hair?

All eyes were on Blake Lively this weekend as she showcased her blossoming baby bump in an array of stylish outfits, however fans also noted another change to the star's appearance. The 27-year-old has sparked speculation that she has stopped dyeing her hair its trademark blonde colour, as her natural roots begin to show.

Although Blake is renowned for her long, flowing blonde locks, it could be that, like most mothers-to-be, she has chosen to stop colouring her hair due to the chemicals that make up a hair dye. There is much speculation over whether pregnant women should dye their hair or not after some studies found that very high doses of the chemicals in hair dyes may cause harm. However, it is a very small amount of chemicals that a woman is actually exposed to when colouring her hair. To avoid risk completely, the NHS advises to wait until after the first 12 weeks of pregnancy when the risk of chemical substances harming the baby is much lower. This may well be what Blake has done, which would explain her root growth. After the 12-week mark, to reduce the risk further, you can change the colour by just applying dye to the strands, meaning chemicals are only absorbed by your hair, rather than by the scalp and therefore the bloodstream. Semi-permanent pure vegetable dyes, such as henna, are also a safe alternative. If she has opted to let her natural colour grow out, it would not be the first time Blake has decided to make a lifestyle change to include an organic alternative, as she has reportedly been trying to eat a more organic, natural diet. "

She sends Ryan out in the middle of the night for organic hand-churned pumpkin-flavoured ice cream," a source told Heat magazine. "And small-batch pickles." The Gossip Girl actress had revealed earlier this year that she and husband Ryan Reynolds are expecting their first child together on her lifestyle website Preserve, sharing a photo of herself cradling her growing baby bump.

The American beauty told E! News that she feels she has 'always been a mama'. "I came from a big family, a big family of Southerners," said Blake. "I feel like I've always been sorta… I'm the youngest of five, so I never raised any siblings below me, but I'm always the person who's taking everyone else's kid and putting them on my hip, so I've kinda always been a mama."

The California-born star has been wowing fans with her chic maternity outfits, staying true to her boho chic style in a variety of bold prints, oversized knitwear and glamorous gowns.

Her growing baby bump made its red carpet debut last week when the radiant actress attended the Golden Heart Awards, wowing in a stretch tulle gown designed by Michael Kors.
