Is Victoria Beckham a towering success?

Extra-high heels need extra care…

Never letting down her fashion front, Victoria Beckham took the opportunity of a day trip with the family to Universal Studios in LA to showcase a new, five-inch heeled pair of Louboutins.

But while elegant and flattering, such high heels can cause problems. Wearing high heels continuously can cause the Achilles tendon behind the ankle to shorten, which can make stretching the foot painful – particularly when walking up and down stairs.

Weight being thrown onto the front of the foot by the height at the back can cause bunions and pressure on the balls of the feet leads to inflammation of the digital nerves. And corns and callouses develop to cope with inflammation.

To keep feet pain-free, try to limit wearing high heels to only a few hours at a time and soak feet afterwards in salted water to reduce inflammation. Alternate the height of heels, too – wear flatter shoes with good support - but not flip-flops, which offer no support at all - the next day to allow ligaments and tendons to stretch.
