It's a big day for Stacey Solomon, whose eldest son, Zachary, has flown the nest. The Loose Women presenter took to Instagram to inform her 6.1 million followers about the major milestone. She shared a snap with Zach at the airport, and a solo shot of him giving a thumbs up to the camera before he headed for his gate. Plus, she fought back the tears to talk to the camera about how she felt seeing her "baby" go off solo.
She explained that she was "devastated" by the big change and that her stomach was "in knots" over it. But she also revealed that it was, in fact, her idea for Zach to push himself and head off abroad. Zach is off to Camp America, where he will help children at camp and also practice being a lifeguard.
Alongside the grid photos, Stacey wrote: "Our Zachary is off to Camp America for the whole summer. Omg Zachy Pickle Cottage will feel so strange without you for the next five weeks. It hurt my heart to drop you off this morning, but I know you’re going to have the best time ever, and that camp is so lucky to have our Zachary in their lives for the summer. Good luck, my darling boy. To the moon and stars and back again. Please tell me why I really wanted him to do this experience & I am so happy for him but also so my gut is in knots??"
When Zach turned 18 earlier this year, Stacey penned a heartfelt tribute. "I blinked & my baby boy turned 18. Zachary, growing up with you has been the biggest privilege of my life. Looking through our memories, every video I have of you shows just how special you are.
"The kindest man with the biggest heart. The world is so lucky to have a human like you in it. Happy birthday darling boy. To the moon & stars and back again. Sorry that I've spent the whole morning crying, I'll pull myself together eventually," she penned.
Stacey Solomon's marriage speculation
It's been a difficult time for the family as they've faced months of speculation surrounding Stacey and her husband Joe's marriage. Rumours swirled due to the star's lack of engagement ring in recent photos, as well as the question mark around the legality of their wedding at their home Pickle Cottage. However, the X Factor singer has set the record straight, calling the speculation "nonsense".
"So many of you have messaged me so I thought I'm just going to have to come on and say something," she said on social media. "I know you’re asking me this because of the massive pile-on I’ve had from the press over the past three months… about myself and Joe and our family."
"It's nonsense," she added, explaining that many of the stories are either "outright made-up lies" or recycled information that has already been publicly shared.
