A prayer on a historic occasion

The King has made history by praying alongside Pope Leo XIV, becoming the first British monarch to do so since the Reformation, HELLO!'s Royal Editor, Emily Nash, reports live from Vatican City, where she joins the royal couple on their trip.

Charles sat alongside Camilla to the Pope's left during an ecumenical service led by the Pontiff and the Archbishop of York, the Most Reverend Stephen Cottrell, beneath Michelangelo's masterpiece on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.

In a prayer, the Pope said: "God our father, you have created the heavens and Earth. You made us in your own image. Teach us to see your hand in all your works and your likeness in all your children."

The monarch joined in the response: "Amen".

The government will not make time for Prince Andrew debate

Following on from earlier reports that MPs are calling for Prince Andrew's conduct to be discussed in Parliament, Downing Street has suggested the government is not planning to factor in time for a debate.

According to PA, a spokesperson said: "Prince Andrew has already confirmed he will not use his titles. We support the decision made by the royal family, and we know the royal family would not want to take time from other important issues."

He added: “Any decision by committees to scrutinise developments are a matter for them. The Prime Minister supports proper scrutiny of the crown estates and all uses of taxpayers' money."

Why Queen Camilla wore black to meet Pope Leo

Queen Camilla deviated from her usual colourful wardrobe on Thursday, as she and her hubsand, King Charles, carried out a state visit to the Vatican City to meet with the Pope.

Adhering to protocol, which requires women to wear a black modest dress and a shawl covering their head, Camilla donned a black silk dress by Fiona Clare with a Philip Treacy mantilla

She completed the look with the late Queen Elizabeth II's "raspberry pip" brooch in the shape of a cross.

The King and Queen have arrived at the Papal Basilica and Abbey of St. Paul's Outside the Walls to attend an ecumenical service in recognition of His Majesty becoming 'Royal Confrater' of the Abbey of St Paul's.

King's historic visit

I am obsessed with these new pictures of the King as he made history by praying alongside Pope Leo XIV. Charles is the first British monarch to do so since the Reformation in the 16th Century.

Charles sat to the Pope's left during an ecumenical service led by the Pontiff, and beneath Michaelangelo's masterpiece on the ceiling of the magnificent Sistine Chapel. The King and the congregation joined in responses to prayers said by both faith leaders at the end of the service.
