While Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's eldest daughter Princess Beatrice has stepped back from the royal limelight in recent months amid the scrutiny surrounding her parents, her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi has kept a busy travel agenda.
Edoardo, who is the founder and CEO of the property development and interior design company Banda Property, jetted off to the United States for a solo trip in January, followed by a visit to an exclusive island off the coast of Miami in March. Following speculation of a rift with his long-time wife, the British property developer has now defended his extensive travel amid the ongoing York family crisis.
"As you well know, it is completely normal for a business owner to travel for work. It happens in every industry," Edoardo claimed in a statement to the Daily Mail.
Edoardo's international travel
Edoardo, who shares daughters Sienna, four, and Athena, one, with Beatrice, spent three weeks on a business trip in January, travelling to Los Angeles and Florida's Palm Beach. He shared pictures of palm trees and the exterior of restaurant Le Bilboquet from his Florida trip on Instagram.
Meanwhile, Beatrice had been pictured days earlier spending time in the UK with her father, disgraced royal Andrew, after he was stripped of his royal titles in October amid renewed scrutiny over his links to convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. The father-daughter pair were seen out on a horse ride with her daughter Sienna in pictures obtained by The Sun.
In March, Edoardo posted he had travelled to the remote Fisher Island Club, off the coast of Miami in Florida, which is a favourite of A-listers like Oprah Winfrey and Julia Roberts. The property developer posted several photos on Instagram from a visit to a construction site, likely related to his work.
After reports of a rift in their relationship, a friend of the couple told HELLO! that Edoardo's solo travel was solely business-related. They noted: "The only thing Bea and Edo are navigating are their busy jobs and looking after their children! They've both had recent stints working abroad and like so many working parents, have been balancing work with looking after the kids."
They added: "Recent reports that things aren't good between them are not true at all. Things are great between them and the only distance between them recently has been physical distance because of work!"
Joint appearance
The couple resurfaced for Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling's wedding on 6 June in the Cotswolds.
Beatrice and Edoardo arrived for the royal wedding at All Saints' Church in Kemble, Cirencester, alongside Beatrice's sister Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank.
Beatrice looked lovely in a floral long-sleeved Emilia Wickstead midi dress while her husband dressed formally for the occasion in a knee-length navy jacket. Other guests in attendance included the King and Queen, the Princess Royal and the Prince and Princess of Wales.
Beatrice and Eugenie's parents were noticeably absent from the gathering as they continue to keep a low profile.
