Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stunned many when they announced they would be returning to the United Kingdom alongside their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
During their time in the United States, the family had two dogs, Pula and Mia, who were rescued in 2018 and 2022, respectively. They also have a flock of rescued chickens, but will any of these also be crossing the pond with the family?
HELLO! understands that while it's thought that the dogs will come with them, the chickens are unlikely to be crossing the Atlantic. However, this doesn't mean that the birds will be gotten rid of, as in the family's absence, staff will be tending to their Montecito home.
One of the chickens that the couple own is Sinkie, who previously belonged to Ellen DeGeneres, before the legendary comedian also moved to the UK. The bird had a broken fibula, which led to it being "picked on" by Ellen's other chickens.
"Sinkie’s leg is fixed but our chickens were still picking on her so she had to be re-homed," Ellen revealed in a social media post. "Luckily our friends Harry and Meghan's coop had room for one more. Not sure yet what her royal title will be."
Harry and Meghan have previously shown off their chicken coop, which is lovingly named 'Archie's Chick Inn', and as its name suggests, the young royal is positively obsessed with the birds.
In one video, Archie was seen holding a wicker basket as he watched the chickens during feeding time. In the clip, he was dressed in blue jeans tucked into his waterproof boots
On another occasion, he looked equally casual in blue sweatpants, black sneakers and a chunky knit beige jumper as he looked through a wire fence – presumably at more animals.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's return to the UK
It was confirmed on Wednesday evening that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would be returning to the United Kingdom at the end of August, six years after they left Britain for a new life in the United States.
HELLO! understands King Charles was first made aware of these plans on Sunday, and that although he is pleased he will have more opportunity to see his son and grandchildren, there will be no alterations to Harry or Meghan's status within the royal family in accordance with previous decisions.
This means that the couple won't be returning to royal duties on a "half in half out" basis, and it has been reported that Meghan could make a return to her acting career. According to Deadline, the Duchess is in early talks to join Netflix's The Gentlemen, which will shortly be airing its second season.
A source stressed to the publication that a deal hadn't been signed, and that a role has not yet been identified for Meghan. The show is also yet to be renewed for a third season.
