Clint Eastwood's son confirms emotional news about dad at 96: 'He's retired'

It's time to say goodbye! Clint Eastwood is officially retiring from movie making at the grand age of 96.

His son, Kyle Eastwood, confirmed the news to France Info when he said: "I've been very lucky to be able to work with him on a lot of films. It was a great experience for me."

Before adding: "I have a lot of good memories of working with him. Now he's retired."

Kyle is a successful musician and has contributed scores to several of his father's movies, including Million Dollar Baby, Letters from Iwo Jima, Gran Torino and Invictus.

The news about Clint — who turned 96 on May 31 — may surprise many of his fans who thought he'd never hang up his movie-making hat. 

In his own words, Clint once said: "I love what I do, why should I stop? I'll say goodbye without saying goodbye."

Now, his son as said it for him. 

Last movie?

Clint was last seen behind the camera creating the 2024 movie Juror #2.

It was widely speculated to be his final film at the time, but as promised, Clint did not confirm this, but simply slipped out of the spotlight.

Clint resides away from the bright lights of Hollywood, despite his entertainment career. 

His home is the Californian town of Carmel-by-the-Sea. Clint raised many of his eight children on his ranch in Carmel where he was elected as mayor in 1986 and held the political position for two years.

What he's said about aging

Clint has always seen aging as a privilege. In 1997, he told CBS News: "I think you have to enjoy getting older. That's the most important factor. If you sit around and think, 'Well, at 21, I was doing this,' or 'at 31' or what have you.'

"A lot of people maybe do their best work when they're 40 and then tail off. But I think that's a mental attitude."

Clint began acting in 1950 and reached worldwide fame thanks to Sergio Leone's westerns, especially the trilogy consisting of A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More, and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. 

He carved out success not only as the star of movies, but as a brilliant director. 

Amongst the Dirty Harry legend's many accolades; Clint won the Oscar for Best Director and Best Picture for Unforgiven and repeated the feat with Million Dollar Baby.
