John Cena showed off his "bold" new look at San Diego's Comic-Con over the weekend after undergoing his second hair transplant.
The 49-year-old former WWE star turned actor sported a buzz cut after shaving all his hair off in June for the second stage of his follicular unit extraction (FUE) hair transplant procedure.
John had his first hair transplant in November 2024 after cruel comments about his thinning hair left him feeling "bullied."
He returned to the Anderson Center for Hair in Atlanta, Georgia, on June 29 with his dramatically different look, explaining that planting hair follicles is easier and quicker to do on a shaved head.
"My first operation was 13 and a half hours. The second one was eight hours," he told People on Saturday.
"The objective is to get more hair, and this was the best way to do it, talking with Ken Anderson, my doctor over there. I love the guy. He's totally changed my life."
© Getty ImagesJohn continued: "I went back to him like, 'Man, you did great. I have this one small, small, small spot. Can you do it?' He's like, 'I can. My best results are — if you're bold enough to shave your head, I can keep the follicles.'"
He added: "I'm rocking this hair thing with the promise that he's working. I have full trust and faith in him with this process."
John first showed off his shaved scalp earlier this month with a photo of him standing beside hair restoration specialist Dr. Ken Anderson.

"Always great seeing you, my friend," he wrote. "Your commitment to the process and long-term hair health has made all the difference. I'm grateful for the trust you've placed in me and my team, and honored to continue being part of your journey."
John's first hair transplant
John opened up about his first hair transplant on an April 2025 episode of The Pat McAfee Show. "I just saw so many bald spots signs," he said at the time.

Turning to the audience, he joked: "By the way, thank you for being so aware of my needs and emotions because you guys ripped me to shreds for a genetic problem that I can't control."
John also admitted he had become increasingly self-conscious after wrestling fans repeatedly mocked his appearance during WWE events, describing their chants as "straight-up bullying."

"But no, in unison, you chant and make me feel small and embarrass me. Y'all don't know what that's like. That is straight-up bullying and not cool."
He added: "Thank you for bullying me into getting surgical hair replacement. That's how far y'all pushed me."
