Hollywood is currently mourning the tragic loss of Hayden Panettiere at the age of 36.
The actress' death was confirmed by her representative on Sunday, August 16, with a statement reading: "It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden."
It adds: "An investigation is ongoing and cause of death has not yet been determined."
Hayden Panettiere's net worth
While no exact figures on Hayden's net worth are available, per a compilation of reports presented by Celebrity Net Worth, the actress' value is estimated to be about $6 million. Some other reports cite figures as high as $10 million.
Her career has been extensive, spanning almost her entire life. In fact, her first ever appearance on screen was in a commercial when she was just 11 months old.
She began acting as a child star in the soap operas One Life to Live and Guiding Light, making her film debut in 1998's Pixar hit A Bug's Life, earning her a Grammy nomination.
Hayden then transitioned into more mainstream roles that earned her more popularity and acclaim, with movies like Dinosaur, Remember the Titans (both 2000), Ice Princess (2005), and Bring It On: All or Nothing (2006) serving as the highlights.
She rose to prominence when she began starring as Claire Bennett in the superhero drama Heroes, following that with her role as Kirby Reed in the Scream film franchise, and Juliette Barnes in the musical drama Nashville, the latter earning her two Golden Globe nominations.
Hayden has also worked as a model and celebrity face for brands like Neutrogena, Got Milk?, and Dooney & Bourke, released music as part of her on-screen projects and independently, plus voiced characters for video games like Kingdom Hearts and Until Dawn.
Hayden's relationship with her daughter
Hayden is survived by her daughter Kaya, now 11 years old. She welcomed her pre-teen with her ex-fiancé Wladimir Klitschko. When Kaya was four, Hayden relinquished primary custody to her ex so as to seek treatment for her struggles with alcohol and opioid addiction. The Heroes star has also been incredibly candid about suffering from severe postpartum depression.
Earlier this year, the actress spoke with Us Weekly about building a good relationship with not only her daughter, but also Wladimir as a co-parent. "I have an incredible relationship with both of them. I'm so grateful for Wlad. We're very close, and have had a deep friendship, along with a relationship, since I met him when I was 19," she shared.
"To see that we still have this bond and the ability to coparent and show our daughter [that] even though we're not together, doesn't mean that there's a lack of love here, and it doesn't mean that you're unsafe," she continued.
"My daughter, she's just an incredible gift. She's otherworldly and so kind and so fierce and surrounded by good people, and it's incredible for me to be able to watch her thrive in areas that I struggled with growing up. She's just the best thing, all the best parts of me and Wlad."
Hayden's relationship with her family
In her memoir This Is Me: A Reckoning, which was released just a few short months before her death, Hayden also detailed her complicated relationship with her family, particularly her parents, mother Lesley R. Vogel and father Alan Lee "Skip" Panettiere.
Her father shared a statement after her passing, which read: "She was an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her, and to the millions who watched her onscreen. We ask for privacy as our family takes time to process this unimaginable loss."
In 2023, her brother Jansen Panettiere, also an actor, died suddenly at the age of 28 from complications related to cardiomegaly, aka enlarged heart syndrome. The actress has noted how "destructive" his loss was, telling People: "He was my only sibling, and it was my job to protect him. When I lost him, I felt like I lost half of my soul."
